The Aegis Fortress L3, designed to fully meet NIST FIPS 140-2 Level 3 requirements, is a secure external drive that offers extensive protection for your data. Milled from a solid block of aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum alloy, the enclosure features snap-off uni-directional security fasteners and a membrane-style keypad, ensuring the entire device, including the hard drive, electronics, external fasteners, and even the enclosure itself, are within the elevated FIPS Validation boundary.

Inside, all data is encrypted on the fly as it's being written to the drive using AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption, safeguarding your information even if the hard drive is extracted from its enclosure. The Aegis Fortress L3 is ready to use right out of the box, with no software, drivers, or updates required, and is completely cross-platform compatible, excelling on any PC, Mac, Linux, or mass storage compliant system with a powered USB port.

Addressing a common security vulnerability in other manufacturers' encrypted drives, the Aegis Fortress L3 features forced enrollment, which requires the Admin to establish a pin before the device can be used. All pin entries are performed on the device's keypad, making it compatible with systems without keyboards and ensuring no security parameters are shared with the host computer.

The Aegis Fortress L3 offers two Read-Only modes, perfect for accessing data on the drive in a public setting to protect against USB viruses and ideal for applications that require data to be preserved in its original, unaltered state. Additionally, the drive features a Brute Force Defense mechanism, which, after a predetermined number of consecutive incorrect pin entries, will perform a crypto-erase, deleting the encryption key and rendering all of the drive's data useless.

Configurable to meet your specific needs, the Aegis Fortress L3 can be customized with Apricorn's Aegis Configurator (sold separately), allowing you to create custom profiles and mass configure multiple Aegis devices at once. This secure and rugged 256-bit AES XTS encrypted USB external drive is Fips 140-2 Level 3 validated, ensuring the highest level of data protection, with separate Admin and User modes for added security.
